Augmentation Mammoplasty

One of the most performed surgeries in the world is Augmentation Mammoplasty, which consists of increasing the size and/or shape of the breast through the placement of implants or through the patient’s own adipose tissue.

The demand for this surgery can happen when it exists:
• Little breast volume or the patient considers it disproportionate to the rest of the body;
• Breast atrophy;
• Breast asymmetry;
• Loss of volume after pregnancy or weight loss;
• Ageing of the mammary gland.

The evolution of techniques in Plastic Surgery allows this surgery to be performed on an outpatient basis, with an increasingly faster and more comfortable recovery.

Through this surgery, we were able to obtain:
• projection and firmness of the breast;
• natural and harmonious appearance;
• neckline filled;
• increased women’s confidence and self-esteem.

There are several types of implants, which may differ in size, shape, profile and texture. It is during the assessment appointment that, taking into account the patient’s desired result, we jointly decide on the most suitable implant, as well as the type of incision to be made.

Types of incision:
Cicatriz3

Infra mammary

Cicatriz2

Peri-areolar

Cicatriz1

Transaxillary

•Infra-mammary: most common incision, made in the lower portion of the breast, which allows the scar to be hidden in a natural way. The most suitable for those intending to breastfeed, as it does not compromise the channels and the mammary gland. After some time, the small incision, which is only about 4 cm, is practically unnoticeable.
Peri-areolar: incision in the lower region of the areola, in the line of transition to the skin of the breast, thus remaining practically imperceptible. In this process, some breast ducts may be cut.
• Transaxillary: The implant placement is done through the axilla, without scarring the breast.

When the patient does not want a substantial augmentation or rejects implants, we resort to Augmentation Mammoplasty using the patient’s own fat. This technique consists of the aspiration of adipose tissue (from a location to be chosen between the surgeon and the patient) and, after being properly treated, the lipograft is made in the breast until the desired volume is reached.
